Academics Overview

The Midwest Transportation Center focuses on K–12 recruitment and education, post-secondary education, and ongoing training.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects eight percent employment growth for civil engineers between 2014 and 2024, resulting in more than 23,000 new jobs. The continuing evolution in education and workforce development required as transportation shifts from a road-building focus to a broader vision oriented toward areas like improving the durability and extending the life of transportation infrastructure will require a new skillset for transportation professionals.

That’s why our efforts are aimed at preparing a workforce that can successful adapt to new changes in the transportation engineering field.
